Developmental Stuttering Screening Instrument: development and content validation

ABSTRACT Purpose: to develop a screening instrument identify the risk of developmental stuttering in preschoolers. Methods: procedures were divided into two stages: The first one (theoretical), consisted literature review and construction items that make up instrument; second stage (content validation), analysis by judging committee formed 10 speech-language-hearing therapists who work field fluency. data was based on calculation item content validity index (I-CVI) total number answers (T-CVI). Also, an reliability conducted with Cronbach’s alpha. Results: Developmental Stuttering Screening Instrument (DSSI) encompassed 24 distributed four key categories. I-CVI T-CVI revealed high agreement between judges. alpha coefficients indicated internal consistency judges’ 19 items. qualitative pointed need for new adjustments. All analyses contributed version instrument. Conclusion: proposed showed content-based evidence made it possible, present moment, adjust its construct. It is suggested validation process continue, employing accuracy measures.
